\u201cEverybody just calls me Maksis, but that is not my real name\u201d he says, \u201cMy passport says differently right now, but one day it will say Maksimilians.” He is in charge of lighting and the visual experience around live music in Ka\u0146epes Kult\u016bras centrs. On the evening of the 19th of May, KKc is hosting the second event of Berlin Sessions in Riga \/\/ DJ vakars \/\/ Iza Minelli. When asked about what his role in Berlin sessions will be, he responds: \u201cI will make the blue hall even more beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n
– Do you remember the first time you visited KKc?
\nIt wasn\u2019t too long ago. I was taking a lot of photos during the first two Kom\u0113ta festivals. Not too long after the second Kom\u0113ta, Marcip\u0101ns (Marta Lortkipanidze) asked me about taking photos of concerts and musicians in KKc. I jumped on board immediately. That was last summer. Before that, I had only been here once or twice, actually. So there I was, taking photos in KKc. I remember one particular concert. I did not like the layout of the stage as well as the lighting. I was not happy at all, because i could not take a good photo. The faces of the musicians were lit bright yellow and red, like the ones of some cartoon figures. I took matters into my own hands and started to move around the lights ever so slightly. I started getting better photos, but my ambitions in KKc changed right away from taking photos to working as a lighting designer. It all happened very fast, and around Christmas, I realised that i work here now.<\/p>\n
– How do you feel about this place?
\n– I know this is not an original answer, and i\u2019ve seen it in previous interviews – a lot of my colleagues call this place their second home. I could even call KKc my real home. Of course I have a flat, i\u2019m not homeless.<\/p>\n
When I was younger, I studied art, but never had a place or platform to make my ideas and visions come to life. KKc is that platform. KKc is my drawing board.<\/p>\n
– How would you like to be remembered, after you travel to a different dimension?
\n– (silence) I don\u2019t think or fantasise about what kind of a person i\u2019m going to be in five or fifty years time. So, if you\u2019re asking me, how I want to be remembered by other people, I don\u2019t really care. I don\u2019t have a self-image in my head, that i\u2019d like other people to see.<\/p>\n
– What would your perfect world be like?
\n– There are a lot of aspects that would make up my perfect world. One of them would be a world without religion. Perhaps, in this ideal world, people would live by the same ideologies, that we live by in KKc.<\/p>\n
– What exactly is this ideology?
\n– You can read about this ideology in our code of ethics, on the wall, next to the first floor bar. I envision the perfect world as a place where everyone has an opportunity to express themselves. A place where you have the right to create and do exactly what you want to do, not something that someone else might want you to do.<\/p>\n
– If you suddenly found out that you only have three days left to live, how would you spend them?
\n– I would buy a trampoline for my colleagues and come to KKc.<\/p>\n
